OCTOBER TIP OF THE MONTH
These are some helpful tips to help make Halloween safe for food
allergic children:
- Give out candy that have
clear lists of ingredients on their labels so parents can decide
which candies are safe for their children.
- If you are giving a
Halloween party, be mindful of those children with food allergies.
Prepare special treats that they can enjoy too.
- For trick or treat
instead of giving out the usual candies, hand out trinkets such as
bubbles, spooky rings, stickers, or bracelets and keep a stash of
“safe candy” that has no nuts, dairy or soy products in them.
Suckers and bubble gum are usually a safe bet.
- If you know there is a
child in your neighborhood that has food allergies, ask their
parents what treats are safe for them and have these treats
available at trick or treat.
